project 15: tiny triangle cowl

< BLOG

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope everyone had a marvelous and fun-filled weekend! I know we did! We pursued the streets of the Fillmore Jazz Festival here in San Francisco, and ate anything we could find that came from a cart (which amounted to two too-full bellies, and happy faces), and the today of course will be spent with sparklers and a city fireworks show. Just to continue the spirit of red, white, and blue (because I love celebrating pretty much everything), I thought I’d present to you the newest project in this saga: the red tiny triangle cowl.

After gushing about this pattern (from Rasa at the Friendly Nettle) for about two years, I decided to give it a try. I usually stick to knitting, but crochet has a way of simplifying every possible shape that I don’t dare try with a thousand knitting needles in a circle, including tiny triangles… that’s just too much for me.

The pattern calls for DK weight yarn, but two strands of sock yarn, as I’ve done here, works just as well. It’s a great way to get rid of a sock yarn stash, and would make an interesting statement piece. Lightweight and airy, it’s perfect for a day with a light breeze. Great for beginners! What else would you make with this cute pattern? Let me know in the comments!
