project 17: bohemian bikini (top)

She wore an….

itsy, bitsy,

teeny, weeny,

little crocheted bikini…

I’m digging all the crocheted “festival-wear” (a.k.a. bring back the 70s) happening right now. It’s a little fun (and pretty satisfying) to find something I like and say, “Hey, I might be able to make that!” and then a couple weeks later have something in hand. It’s not to say that the journey’s been at all easy. This bikini top is a fifth try with two types of yarn, and two needle sizes. In the end though, I learned two things:

  1. If you buy a pattern, maybe it’s a good idea to follow the directions (then it wouldn’t take so long).
  2. All the trials are totally worth it in the end!

This bikini top was improvised from this pattern by Julia at YarnHole. She makes a variety of bikini patterns (and she sells them too). Be sure to check her out and make your own! The summer’s not over yet! Let’s soak up a little bit more of that sun. And while you’re at it, why not make this bag to carry your other beachwear (like a pair of sunglasses?)? What other things should we make before the season comes to an end? Let me know in the comments! ❤
